Colnago C40 Mapei

Everyone who is a bit into cycling heard about the brand Colnago. For a quick introduction we summed up the company's brief history.

Ernesto Colnago born at 9th of February 1932, in Cambiago a small city near Milan. At the age of 13 he started to work as a welder at Gloria cycles Milan.
In 1954 he started his own bicycle frame builder company. In a meantime he begin to work with professional cycling teams, he had a huge influence in pro cycling,

C40

 

The Colnago C40 was released for the 40th anniversary of the Colnago factory. With this frameset in 1995 Franco Ballerini from team Mapei won the legendary classic, the Paris-Roubaix. Next year on the same race Johan Museeuw, Andrea Tafi and Gianluca Bortolami took the first 3 place, proven once for all that carbon fibre bicycles aren't only light but also can be reliable and safe.

This version of the C40 has been released in 2002 to celebrate Oscar Freire's second world title from 2001.
